We parked underneath DZand and walked into the center via a passage that was chock full of brand name stores you can find almost everywhere in Europe. I can hardly believe it! We tried to explorethe Benedictine nunnery, former home to an order of nun-like types called the Beguines. Really nice walks in any direction and you have several other key sites and landmarks in addition to 5 or 6 museums. Crowded or not, the place is a must-see. All in all it was a good day with a decent balance of activities. In fact, we entered very few places besides a restaurant we traumatized upon arrival. The kids were enthralled by our story as they watched the swans fiercely guard their little patch of pond. These lovely town squares, made up of ornate guild houses and state buildings, remind us that Brugge was once a great center of wealth, commerce and art web.
